CHURCH COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

November 26, 2007

· New Google spot highlighting Advent activities (search using the words "Christmas Worship in Bellingham WA"); sermons posted on our web site and recorded on CDs.
· The Search and Call Committee will re-open the search for a new Lead Pastor and accept Ministerial Profiles until early next year.
· Open and Affirming Committee members are eager to speak with people after worship about the Marriage Equality amendment to our Open and Affirming statement to be voted upon at a congregational meeting on January 13.
· Joint report from Budget and Stewardship Committees: Stewardship Campaign is going well but many people still to contact to encourage their pledge card return.

Budget Committee planning to revise budget as appropriate to funds pledged for 2008. Still need approximately $79,000 beyond anticipated pledging to meet 2008 budget proposed prior to the Stewardship Campaign. Budget Committee's sub committee on ways to retire anticipated remaining building debt at the end of CC III made initial report on possible ways to manage that debt.
 

· Adult Ministries' brochure describing church small groups is ready to print.
· 2008 Worship in the Park will be hosted by Ferndale UCC.
· Ten new members received during worship on November 18.
· Moved Seconded & Passed a motion to approve Board of Trustees proposal to eliminate the loan clause from the Carl Calhoun Endowment Fund and change the name to "Carl Calhoun/Legacy Endowment Fund," with a recommendation to be presented at the Annual Meeting for congregational consideration.
