CHURCH COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

December 10 & 17 2007

Council approved recommendation by Budget Committee to authorize Board of Trustees to re-finance the outstanding building debt within the next 18 months and to hold a congregational meeting no later than June 30, 2008 to discuss repayment options.
 

Council met December 17 specifically to discuss 2008 budget as proposed by the Budget Committee.
 

Budget Committee held a short informational meeting about the 2008 proposed budget after worship on Sunday, December 23.
 

ONA continues to welcome conversations about the Marriage Equality Resolution to be voted upon at a special congregational meeting on January 13. Committee members are available every Sunday after worship.
 

With a mixture of sadness and joy, Council acknowledged the call of Rev. Jennifer Yocum to the UCC church in Forest Grove, Oregon. We will miss her but know this is a wonderful opportunity for her. Plans are underway for a January 6 celebration of Jennifer's time with us. That is Jennifer's last Sunday with us.
 

Stewardship Board celebrates the 2007 Stewardship Campaign. Of 227 pledges currently in hand, 106 represented increased giving.
 

The online Time and Talent Survey will expire at the end of this month as we pay a fee for this service.
Advent events were very enthusiastically attended and enjoyed.

12-17-07 - Special meeting of Church Council
 

After much discussion and thoughtful conversation, Council voted to approve the 2008 budget as proposed by the Budget Committee.
 

Council approved a recommendation to accompany the budget suggesting that additional funds collected over the amount needed to balance the budget be designated for mission and denominational giving at the end of the fiscal year.
