    CHURCH COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

    August 27, 2007

     

    Accepted resignation of Church Treasurer, Marcia Catey. The Nominating Committee will seek her replacement.
     

    Open and Affirming Committee's Marriage Equality Ad Hoc Committee presented position papers, results of a survey of 65 members and a proposed time line for continued dialogue including facilitated neighborhood meetings. Council approved the process as outlined.
     

    Personnel Committee is posting the Youth Coordinator position in the community.
     

    Search and Call Committee continues its work and has narrowed a list of over 60 candidates to four. The Committee will begin telephoning references and gathering other information. Candidates will be invited to Bellingham to visit with the committee formally and informally, see our church, and preach at a neutral pulpit, probably in Seattle.
     

    Budget Committee provided materials and questions for discussion. The Council broke into small groups and provided feedback to the Committee.
     

    Staffing, Organization and Constitution Committee made its final staffing recommendation to the Council and will focus now on organization and structure of our church governance.
     

    Adult Ministries has a preliminary plan for fall after-worship classes.
    Trustees plan to list all that has been accomplished using funds designated for specific maintenance and replacement projects.
     

    September 16 is "I'll Be There" Sunday with special events planned.
