CHURCH COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS September 22, 2008 Personnel Committee has selected a new Youth Coordinator. Jen Dickinson will begin on Oct. 2. Large crowds for recent events at our church remind us to carefully observe safety rules. Pastoral Care Summit brought all groups in the church together who are providing care for our members. The congregation needs more education about available resources. Moved, seconded and passed (MSP) to recommend to the congregation the proposed 2009 operating budget. MSP to recommend to the congregation a one-year RETIRE THE DEBT campaign to address the projected outstanding debt of $266,346 on May 31, 2009. Stewardship Board plans one mailing to include a brochure, a pledge card and an invitation to the Celebration Breakfast on Oct. 26. Theme is "Here is the Church, Here is the Steeple, Open Your Hearts and Give…For All the People". A list of themes developed from congregational input of desirable traits for Search and Call Committee members was reviewed. The selection committee will use these traits as guidelines when putting together the Search and Call Committee. Search and Call selection committee will mail letter and questionnaire to all. Oct. 6 is deadline for returning questionnaires. Forms will be in pews Sept. 28 and Oct. 5, available in the church office and online. An advertisement for Lead Pastor/Pastor will be published mid-October. Pastors Jane and Savage are working closely with Diaconate on Worship. Board of Trustees has $6,000 in Memorial money to spend and seeks ideas (in writing) by Oct. 13. Those who attended the Camp Out at Larrabee Park had a great time.
