Church Council met on Monday, November 25. Here are highlights.
1) $1,500 from interest on the Diehl fund will be utilized to support the immigrant resource center started by Renew Northwest. The organization Renew Northwest was started by former staff of the local World Relief chapter which lost all funding under the current administration. Renew Northwest provides valuable support for our immigrant neighbors and is in need of monetary support.
2) The $1,250 originally budgeted for Interfaith Coalition has been withheld due to ongoing issues in the organization. Instead, the money will be used to supplement Holiday Joy which will positively impact 120 families!
3) Randy Flowers has been added to Pastor Sharon’s Pastoral Relations Committee!
4) Trustees and Council are continuing to work on the Building Use Policy so that it best serves the Church and the outside groups that depend on our beautiful space:
- A 12 step group has been given permission to use our space for a reduced rate.
- The fee for use of the AV system in the sanctuary has been reduced from $100 to $85 per hour.
5) It has come to the attention of the church that ICE has been watching groups that are supporting immigrants. ICE is not legally allowed to enter private offices that are posted as private spaces. The Church Council has approved posting signs on offices saying that they are private spaces so that ICE cannot legally enter them.
