November Holiday Meal with Our Larger Community, Tuesday November 25
All are welcome, a place at the table, sharing conversation, food, and friendship.
Tuesday at the Simple Supper, we spoke about the possibility of joining the Ground Floor in planning, preparing, and hosting a Holiday Meal. We met with the Ground Floor Director April, and it is a go! We are joining together for the Holiday Meal for friends, members, neighbors, and anyone who drops in. Using the Ground Floor previous experience in hosting a holiday meal and the Simple Supper attendance we are planning to prepare for up to 150 folks—a considerable number but we can do it with your help and encouragement. The Holiday Meal -- will be Tuesday November 25 meal served 3:00-5:00 pm. Yes, we need your help.
The menu is not set -- yet! We are actively asking what is one of your favorite dishes that we can toss into the mix of possibilities as we begin to pull the menu together. Just send us a suggestion. We are asking you to come and bring a friend to share the meal. We will ask for volunteers to help set up a festive dining room, prepare the meal, serve, and clean-up. We will ask some of you to prepare the dishes at home and bring them to the kitchen for final heating—we will provide the containers for the dishes.
To get the ball rolling—the menu may include turkey, ham, lasagna, fish, and non-meal dishes. Sweet potato souffle, mash potatoes, and dressing, and of course the necessary French bean casserole, and cranberry sauce to name a few possibilities. For sure there will be gluten and dairy free choices. The menu will be set on November 14. Please let us hear from you—your menu suggestion and your willingness to help with preparation, serving, and more. Contact Buzz Durham.
More to come as plans move forward.
