First Congregational Church Marble Ritual
We are called to care for creation in ways both large and small, and to celebrate the actions we’re taking toward a sustainable and just future for all. Donating your time and/or talents to help take care of Mother Earth might include reducing your carbon footprint, or using compostable or reusable items instead of plastic, or divesting from corporations that pollute.
Our marble ritual at the May 11 service is among the numerous ways we celebrate Mother’s Day and Mother Earth Celebration, in addition to our ongoing work for creation and justice, and our commitment to God’s future. During the offertory, you’re invited to come forward to the communion table, where the marbles are available. You won’t be asked to speak … simply take a single marble, or a few more, or a handful, and add them to the container. The dropping of your marbles records your commitment to our common home.
Be thinking about what you might recognize in your life as a “marble moment”!
