So many ministries are part of First Congregational Church. Below are just a few examples of how your gifts and pledges serve. If your ministry is interested in requesting funds for 2026 programs, fill out the electronic form here no later than October 31, 2025. Please be sure to coordinate with others in your ministry so only one request is submitted.
WE ARE A NURTURING BELOVED COMMUNITY
The Called to Care team hasn’t kept track of the number of post-surgery hospital check-ins or Stephen Minister visits they’ve made, but the people who’ve received such care know how much such contacts have meant to them. Have you been the recipient of a heartfelt connection?
The Glee Club may seem like a lighthearted gathering, but the interaction between many ages and abilities (like those with dementia or physical challenges) within the framework of singing familiar songs brings people together in meaningful community. They even took their joyful efforts to care facilities in 2025!
WE ARE GROWING AUTHENTIC CHRISTIAN FAITH
Our Church School program, despite seeing between 3-12 children most Sundays, has almost 40 registered kiddos! Each week they talk about what’s happening in their lives and check in with one another and then learn a Bible story. Those families also receive messages from Church School Coordinator, Maya, sharing ways they might continue to grow their faith at home or school.
Worship happens every Sunday: a time for us to be renewed, challenged, comforted, and connected. Many volunteers, Pastor, Music Coordinator, Church School Coordinator, Organist, and Director of Community Life all come together help share a message about God’s love for all. No matter who you are, you’re welcome!
WE ARE LIVING CHRIST-INSPIRED ACTION
The Ground Floor is a ministry of First Congregational Church run by Northwest Youth Services. We contribute in the form of more than 2500 square feet dedicated to 13-24-year-olds experiencing homelessness. In June of 2025 alone The Ground Floor served a total of 120 unique youth and young adults who are literally homeless, housing insecure, and/or low income with basic needs provided, resource navigation, case management, and referrals to community partners. This space saves lives.
Whatcom Faith Community Immigration Support (WFCIS) hit the ground running as they responded to the needs of immigrant families affected by ICE detentions and deportation. Since they formed in April they’ve served 46 households and delivered 535 boxes to families too afraid to shop at the Food Bank in person. “When you cared for the least of these…”
