Last night nine of us gathered in the church to participate in the National Faith Call to Action webinar; others of you participated at home, joining more than 8000 faithful across the country. After prayer and naming the many individuals who’ve died in DHS custody, we talked about what we can do. Members of our congregation named:
Let’s meet (at least) monthly to share actions that we’ve learned about and/or to write letters and plan action while gathered—solidarity is support.
Let’s participate in some political actions! The grassroots group Indivisible Bellingham offers four concrete options at their gatherings each third Monday at Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship. Some of our members already attend (could they share info after those meeting?)
Contact senators today!
Encourage family/friends in key states to contact Senators on the fence about supporting the DHS Funding Bill (like LA, ME, MO, AK) to vote NO on any additional funding for DHS this year.
Tell them to get ICE out of our communities—pause all ICE activities pending a thorough bipartisan investigation.
Jesus’ faith had him turning tables and speaking truth to power. Those of us who are able are encouraged to follow. The rest of us can pray and take care of people. If you’d like to be part of an email list working for faithful action within FCCB, please email office@fccb.net.
