Standing up for Justice
Living in these times, how often have we thought, “How can I make a positive impact?” or “What is the Holy Spirit calling us to do?”
What does God require of us? To act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. (Micah 6:8) So we seek to follow that guidance at every opportunity.
We have an opportunity to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God. On Saturday, March 28, people will be speaking out for justice at “No Kings!” rallies throughout our nation. In accordance with our stated beliefs as a Just Peace church, our call from the Holy Spirit, and the support of our Church Council, some FCCB folks are planning to attend the Bellingham event as an identified, visible, progressive Christian group. All are invited to help promote messages of justice, peace and love. For us, it’s “No Kings (but Jesus)!”
If you'd like to make some signs, join us after worship on March 15 and March 22 in Room 12-14. Of course folk are invited to make their own signs but they need to be totally non-political and positive and should stick to our First Congregational Church mission.
As stated in our Just Peace affirmation, Jesus invites us to a life of…
• Service to our Neighbor
• Radical Hospitality
• Peace Making
• Restorative and Economic Justice
• Stewardship of our Planet
• Building Community for the Journey
Please consider joining us to stand up for justice as a bold faith community reflecting Jesus’ radical love on Saturday, March 28, the day before Palm Sunday. Details about the event are still being finalized, and will be provided when known. Questions? Please contact Diane Cooper-Schick or Laurie Hoyt.
