Many of you remember that we usually have a Village Books book sale in the church narthex during Advent. It is an excellent time to purchase gifts for family and friends and to check out some wonderful books. This year, however, due to scheduling and staffing issues, we are unable to hold a Village Books sale at our church. In its place, we are having an First Congregational shopping day at Village Books on Sunday, December 7. Members and friends of First Congregational Church will have the entire bookstore and the large selection of gifts at Paper Dreams from which to select. Mention FCCB at checkout, and a portion of each purchase will go toward new books for the church library. Some members and friends will remember that during the COVID-19 pandemic, we also had a shopping day at Village Books because we were unable to gather in the church building.
This year’s shopping day will also feature First Congregational Church musicians and authors during a special program from 6:00-7:00 pm held in the Readings Gallery on the ground floor of Village Books. Plan to do a bit of Christmas shopping, get a book signed by one of our authors, and meet your friends at Village Books, 1200 11th Street in Fairhaven.
The church library is a specialty library featuring books of interest to our members and Garden Street Methodist members and friends. Check out the expanding section featuring books of faith and justice, the shelf of books by FCCB authors, and the FCCB reads section. For more information on the church library, contact Ted Huffman.
