First Congregational Church has partnered with the Birchwood Food Desert Fighters to combat the food desert that exists in the Birchwood neighborhood. Birchwood Food Desert Fighters distributes roughly 1 to 1.5 tons of food and supplies out to the community every week free of charge. Our mutual aid project gets fresh produce, homestyle meals, and more out to 100-150 households a week. After eight years, the Birchwood Food Desert Fighters is finally getting a truck! The Mission and Justice Board has pledged $500.00 to update the truck for use. Watch the Monday Mission for ways you can donate individually.
