Sabbatical Experiences with Pastor Phiwa

As part of Pastor Phiwa's time with us during Pastor Sharon's sabbatical, they will be leading us on some specific experiences. Here is some information from Pastor Phiwa about these experiences and some dates for Community Hours and the Interactive Listening Experiences so you can participate.

Two Interactive Listening Experiences: In addition to the weekly Community Open Hours and in-person interactions with people during worship, I’m offering these in May/early June to thoroughly listen to what the people of First Congregational Church say matters to them. These Experiences will also serve to facilitate listening practices within the community that can continue long after I’ve left.

One Guided Exploration Experience: After the scheduled listening sessions, I’ll engage the congregation in deeper exploration tailored to respond to what I heard and witnessed in our first month together. This Experience will provide new perspectives and/or creative applications of familiar lenses to help shake loose varied possibilities for First Congregational Church.

One Collaborative Visioning Experience: In our final month together, we’ll build upon the first two Experiences and collaboratively (re)envision tangible ways of “welcoming all, growing in faith, living God’s love, justice, compassion …” authentically. The primary purpose of this Experience will be to solidify the work we do in our three-months together as well as to equip First Congregational with connection-making strategies that can continue beyond July.
