Summer is a great time to try new things and enjoy various traditions. This year we’re doing both!
June 29 Mid-Year Congregational Meeting Service—That’s right, there are no matters to vote on at our mid-year meeting, so we’re going to see what it’s like to share the main messages during our worship service, where more people are able to participate (both on Zoom and in the sanctuary). All our ministries as a community of faith can be worship, so why not live that into our Sunday morning?
July 6 All Questions Considered Sunday—All Questions Considered is an instant sermon in which Pastor Sharon will attempt to answer your theological, spiritual, biblical, or church-related questions. Scott Ward will be collecting your questions over the next several weeks (so Sharon won’t know what to expect!). Email your questions to scott@fccb.net, and we’ll reveal them in worship on July 6.
July 13 Pride Parade Breakfast & Blessing—Members will walk, roll, ride in the Pride in Bellingham Parade as a message of love and affirmation. Even now in 2025 the fight for our LGBTQ+ folks is real. Together we can celebrate, uplift, and make a difference! Here’s the plan:
9 am - Brunch. We will gather for food in the social hall. This is a chance to connect and fuel up
10 am - Worship. We will stay in the social hall for our worship service. The beginning of the service will be a blessing and send off for all who will join the parade. We will then be transported to the parade start near Cornwall Ave. & Maple St. If you'd like to participate in the parade but are not able to walk the route, we will have vehicles available for you to ride the parade.
11 am Pride in Bellingham Parade begins. It all ends at Depot Market Square.
12-4 pm Pride in Bellingham Festival. The parade transforms at Depot Market Square into the Pride Festival. Allies may have the opportunity to be a 'wall of love' to outshine any protesters.
August 10 Hymn Sing—Warm up your vocal cords and egg shakers with all the hymns you (or your neighbor) love! Start paging through the hymnal to find the ones you never get to sing.
August 24 Service Sunday—We’re going to try to worship in the world with up to four different opportunities for action then regather for sharing. More details to come.
September 7 Gather In Sunday & Fair—Gather In is our tradition of coming back together after all the summer has brought. This will be the second year of the Gather In Fair (which showcases as many ministries and events as you’d like to share) and picnic.
If you’re willing to support any of these summer services in any way, please contact Sharon (sharon@fccb.net) or Scott (scott@fccb.net), and we’ll get you in touch with the right people.
In anticipation,
Pastor Sharon
