Pentecost is my favorite festival of the Christian calendar. I can relate to being part of a post-resurrection, uncertain, afraid, and mourning people gathering together to try and figure out what’s next. I’ve been part of those groups before. And, I’ve had the honor of being present when there is a palpable shift in the room, and a new idea is born, or the calling of the Spirit catches fire or hope takes root like a thunderbolt.

One of our friends at Sea Mar invited us to share this volunteer opportunity with our community. They are looking for individuals to provide logistical support for mobile medical clinics for agricultural workers and other underserved people this summer.

During May, the Faith Formation Board is reading essays out of Walter Bruggerman’s book Tenacious Solidarity: Biblical Provocations on Race, Religion, Climate, and the Economy.

Church Council encourages everyone who can be vaccinated to please get vaccinated for the health of our world community (love of neighbors).

Our Minister of Christian Formation is beginning a stage of life and ministry. Sharry is retiring at the end of June. We will miss her but are grateful for her long years of ministry at First Congregational Church and rejoice with her for this new adventure.
