Ground Floor Update April 2025

Two young adults who have accessed services at The Ground Floor for the last several months are now being sheltered at our HUSLY young adult home. This 90-day program is a transitional step between shelter living and stable, independent housing. They are receiving intensive case management services from the NWYS' Housing Team and their Ground Floor Engagement Coordinator. One of them started classes at BTC the first week of April.

One young man who has been a daily participant at The Ground Floor for about the last year is very close to being placed in permanent, supportive housing. We are working with him to obtain the last of the required documents for placement in the program.

In April, The Ground Floor saw a significant increase in walk-in traffic. The Winter months tend to be a little less busy than Spring/Summer. We served 125 individual youth in April (that's a total of 526 visits!) and 20 of them were first time visitors to The Ground Floor. That means over a thousand meals and snacks, dozens of loads of laundry, and dozens of showers were provided! As always, along with basic needs supplies and services, youth and young adults are accessing resource navigation, case management, and supportive community.
