Recently, myself, David Fayram, and some members of FCCB's youth group had the opportunity to put our faith into action on an overnight service trip to Lummi Island. We helped with set up for a meal for the Elderberries group that meets at Lummi Island Congregational Church. Afterwards, we spent a few hours weeding and cleaning up the gorgeous labyrinth LICC hosts on their property.
After a lot of hard work, both youth and adult chaperones were ready for a treat and some fun! We took a drive to the Islander store for some ice cream, played a few raucous rounds of "Real-life Among Us", and had the most chaotic game of UNO I've ever witnessed. Once the sun went down, we headed down to the beach and tried our best to see the Perseid meteor shower through the clouds! While we didn't get to see any meteors, we still had a great time skipping rocks and climbing logs on the beach. The next morning, we took a labyrinth walk together, followed by some journaling and reflection time. Seeing all the work we had done the day before in a new light was so Before we knew it, it was time to board the ferry back to Bellingham!
It was such a blessing to chaperone Jude, Brennan, and Lars on this trip, alongside the amazing David. They worked hard, goofed around harder, and all in all it was a total success (even if there were emergency first aid services required... but you'll have to ask David about that). Thank you to all who prayed for us, attended our fundraiser, and supported these youth on this journey!
