The class is intended to give a basic understanding of the genesis of a world religion and to set the stage for an understanding of the Shia/Sunni schism. This is not a class on the theology of Islam or the Qur'an, although we will touch upon the teachings of the Qur'an.
The UCC Pension Boards recently shared a webinar about fraud protection. This is a basic but very helpful video that can help any of us be safer in this digital world.
The United Church of Christ and Faith Action Network are partnering for this online training August 27 and September 17 at noon. This training will prepare you to participate in Moral Budget Advocacy Week, September 22-26.
Our neighbors at St. Paul's Episcopal Church invite us to the Make a Joyful Noise workshop It is designed for anyone who wants to experience for themselves the inherent power of their own voice to renew the body, mind, and spirit.
As summer begins to wind down and the school year approaches, I wanted to share some upcoming opportunities for our younger congregation members.
September 21 at Structures Brewing from 3-6pm, the Whatcom Peace & Justice Center will host its 22nd annual International Day of Peace event to celebrate local peacemakers, multicultural artists and grassroots groups. The event includes a performance by Seattle based Afro-Latin band Samba da Renata, a reading from local Native poet and activist, Harmony Devaney, speeches from our Whatcom lifetime and youth peacemakers, and other surprises.
This class will tell the sories of the specific women who were connected and close to the prophets of four Abrahamic religions. Join us October 8 & 15, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
